Giving Back

Over the years I continue to encounter people who are leaders in their own right because they choose to give back to society from the fruits of their hard work. Combined with my faith, other leaders have motivated me to help others, who, by no fault of their own, are enduring significant hardship and heartbreak. Hence, my commitment to donate $1.00 from the sale of each candle or gift basket to Operation Smile.

Many children all over the world are unfortunately born with a cleft upper palate that severely threatens their ability to eat and drink. As well this gives them a severe emotional scar and breaks their confidence and the hearts of their parents who are devoted to their child and the wish for their child's bright future.

For approximately $240.00, Operation Smile can restore the child's cleft palate to near normal, which is a basic blessing that nearly every one of us takes for granted. I have seen this misfortune challenge my own family, but thousands of other families do not have the means to be able to afford the corrective surgery. Through the very generous giving of their time, many doctors, with the help of nurses and everyday people, perform the corrective surgeries. Through the donations from the rest of us, supplies and related costs are covered, enabling hundreds of heartbroken families to receive the corrective surgeries that turn their lives around. It is amazing. If it were not for the amazing efforts of the doctors and nurses and volunteers, these hurting families would have no hope and the $240 we contribute is allowing for a surgery that would normally cost thousands of dollars to perform. Thus, giving us a donor's tremendous power with such a small donation.
